Do the participants of the marathon relay have to fulfil certain qualifications?

Everybody born in 2002 or earlier can participate. A membership in a club is not necessary. The organiser expects the participants to be in good training conditions and physically fit.

Our recommendation: Get a health check-up!

Runners that do not want to risk their health during the training or the competition should go for a health check-up once per year. You should also pay attention to warning signals of your body. Under no circumstances should you take part in the competition, if you suffer acute infections or medical conditions.

We have registered for the relay, but cannot participate (e. g. due to injuries or because of a business trip)! Do we get a refund of our starting fee?

After a successful registration there is no claim for a refund of the starting fee or the issuance of a starting voucher for a later event. However, you do have the possibility to replace single relay runners by other runners.

When is the closing date?

Closing date is Sunday, the 18th of March 2012 at midnight.

What do I need to keep in mind about the online registration?

After a successful registration you will receive a confirmation of registration for the 9thFREIBURG MARTHON via email.

How do I pay my starting fee?

The starting fee has to be paid by direct debit or by credit card. The debiting from your account is considered a proof of your registration at the 9th FREIBURG MARATHON. If you have any questions regarding the debiting, please also contact info@marathon-freiburg.com.

When will I receive a confirmation of participation?

Approximately one week prior to the event you will receive a confirmation of participation with your race number as well as information about the pick up of your starting documents via email.

Where and how do I get my starting documents?

Against the presentation of your confirmation of participation or a valid ID card/passport, you will receive your starting documents at the marathon fair of the Messe Freiburg (Hermann-Mitsch-Str. 3, 79108 Freiburg) Opening hours:

Do I have to pick up my own starting documents?

No, you can also have your starting documents picked up by another person. Your confirmation of participation and a letter of authority and/or your ID card/passport have to be presented when picking up your starting documents.

How does it work with the pacemakers?

There will be pacemakers for the following finishing times of the marathon: 3:00, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 5:00 hours. There will be pacemakers for the following finishing times of the half marathon: 1:30, 1:45, 2:00, 2:15hours. The pacemakers will run at a consistent pace (consistent average of kilometres) and will be marked with colourful balloons with the targeted time on them.

The ChampionChip will be used as a "baton" and handed over at the handover points. Without a chip, there is no time measurement and no evaluation!

I do not have a chip. What do I have to do?

You can rent a chip with your registration for the fee of 6.00 euros or buy one for 31.00 euros. The rental fee or purchasing price will be charged to you with your registration. For environmental reasons, we kindly ask you to return the chip to the chip-return at the marathon fair by 18:00 at the day of the event.

What do I have to attach my chip to?

The ChampionChip has to be attached to your running shoe. If the chip is worn on another piece of garment (e. g. jacket pocket), there will be no time measurement.
No evaluation without time measurement!

How can I hand in my private refreshments?

Drop off of private drinks (exclusively in plastic bottles) is on Saturday the 31st of March 2012 and on marathon Sunday the 1st of April 2012 until 09:00 at the latest at the information stand of the marathon fair. Private refreshments will be placed on the first tables of the refreshment stations on the right towards running direction. The organiser accepts no liability in case of loss or damage.

Can runners be accompanied by persons on a bike?

No, due to safety reasons this is not permitted.

Is it allowed to use means of aid (bikes, scooters, inline skates, etc.)?

No. Every participant has to complete the course by foot and without any means of help.

Is the marathon registered with the German Athletic Federation (Deutscher Leichtathletikverband, DLV)?

Yes, the 9th FREIBURG MARATHON 2012 is registered with the DLV/BLV. The fastest times will be recorded in the ranking list of the DLV/BLV

Is it allowed to bring along baby joggers?

Yes, but only at the end of the starting field. Other runners may not be disturbed. The usage takes place at the participant's own risk.

How do I receive my certificate?

You can download your certificate on the Sunday of the Marathon from approximately 19:00 onwards at www.marathon-freiburg.com. Certificates will not be sent out by mail.

How do I get a medal?

Every finisher receives a medal at the finishing line.
